Position Characteristics: The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses from the statistics and mathematics curriculum, including courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. The typical annual teaching load is 24 WTU. It is anticipated that 6 WTU of release time will be given for the first two years, reducing the annual teaching load to 18 WTU. Faculty responsibilities include service at all levels of university governance. The successful candidate may be called upon to teach in a distance education mode and will be encouraged to develop web-enhanced and/or web-based instruction and courses in his or her specialty. The successful candidate will also be expected to do research, as well as supervise undergraduate and/or graduate research. Specific assignments will depend on departmental needs. Outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of the university curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Academic Preparation: An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Statistics or Probability or in Mathematics with a specialty in statistics or probability from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent is required for appointment to a tenure track position. Candidates nearing the completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, the doctorate must be completed by August 16, 2013.

Teaching Or Other Experience: Evidence of, or the potential for, teaching excellence and scholarly productivity at the university level is required. Preference will be given to candidates with consulting experience and familiarity with statistical software such as SPSS or SAS. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment and/or ability to work with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
