Cleaning the lint from your belly button or digging a splinter from your finger can be annoying, but nothing compared with the repertoire of foreign objects that have worked their way into or onto the human body. University College London's Researchers in Museums team have curated an exhibition about them, inviting us to "explore the idea of what is alien ? biologically, psychologically, socially and politically". Hard to stomachFrom scissors to cutlery, thermometers to cobblestones, some strange objects have turned up inside the human stomach. This display highlights some of the most commonly ingested objects, including springs, sewing needles, hairpins, screws, matchsticks, shell fragments and beads.
